Nick Matthew

Nicholas "Nick" Matthew ( born July 25, 1980 in Sheffield ) is an English squash player. He became world champion in 2010, 2011 and 2013 and has already led several times in the world rankings.

Career

Matthews career on the professional tour began in 1998. Later that year he was with the junior national team of England champion, as he reached the semi-finals in the Junior Singles. He finally succeeded in 2004 the first time into the top ten in the world rankings. With his victory at the British Open in 2006, he was the first Englishman since Jim Dear in 1939, who won the tournament on home soil. He repeated this success in 2009 and 2012. At the 2009 World Games in Taiwan won Matthew with a win over rival James Willstrop time the gold medal. Against Willstrop played with Matthew 26 meeting the most games so far in his career. Since December 2012 Nick Matthew was engaged with the English physiologist Esme Taylor, the couple married in June 2013.
