Odorico Leovigildo Sáiz Pérez

Odorico Leovigildo Sáiz Pérez OFM ( born February 6, 1912 in Revilla del Campo in Burgos, Spain, † 14 October 2012 in Logroño, Spain) was Vicar Apostolic of Requena.

Life

Odorico Leovigildo Sáiz Pérez joined the Congregation of the Franciscan ( OFM) in Anguciana, a Rioja in and was ordained a priest on 13 March 1937. He was a missionary in the Peruvian Amazon region and was active there for the education and training of future priests. He held various offices in his order.

In 1973 he was called by Pope Paul VI. appointed Titular Bishop of Simingi and Vicar Apostolic of Requena, Peru. He received his episcopal consecration of the Archbishop of Lima, Cardinal Juan Landázuri Ricketts on March 10, 1974. Were co-consecrators its predecessor Valeriano Ludovico Arroyo Paniego and Leonardo José Rodriguez Ballón, Archbishop of Arequipa.

His resignation was accepted in 1987 by Pope John Paul II. He lived in Spain Logroño and worked as a historian and lecturer at the local Franciscan seminary.

2002 Sáiz was awarded in recognition of his great services to the Church in Peru by the Peruvian Bishops' Conference with the gold medal of Santo Toribio de Mogrovejo.
