Ospitaletto

Ospitaletto is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 13,945 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy. The municipality is situated approximately 10 km west-northwest of Brescia and about 11 km south-southeast of Lake Iseo.

History

While remnants of walls already point to a building in Roman times, the first recorded mention of a hospital-acquired S. Jacobi by the Bresciaer Bishop Ramperto be dated to the year 843.

Sports

The football team Ospitalettos ( Football Club Ospitaletto ) was settled a long time in the third division. The second Giro d' Italia (1910 ) made ​​a stopover in Ospitaletto.

Traffic

Passing through the municipality, the A4 Autostrada from Turin to Trieste. Here there is also a connection point. The Strada Statale 11 Padana Superiore is developed here as a bypass. A station ( Ospitaletto - Travagliato ) is on the railway line Milan-Venice at the section between Bergamo and Brescia.
