Ottaviano

Ottaviano is a municipality with 23,516 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the province of Naples, Campania region.

The nearby towns of Ottaviano are Nola, San Gennaro Vesuviano, San Giuseppe Vesuviano, Somma Vesuviana, Terzigno, Poggio Marino, Ercolano and Trecase.

In 1944, the city was heavily damaged by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Now the place is right on the Vesuvio National Park. In the 1980s, Ottaviano also gained fame as a stronghold of the Camorra.
