Owyhee County, Idaho

Owyhee County is on the surface relative the second largest county in the state of Idaho in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Murphy.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme southwest of Idaho, on the west by Oregon, south to Nevada and has an area of ​​19 934 square kilometers, of which 48 square kilometers are water surface. History

Owyhee County was formed on 31 December 1863 as the original County. It was named after the Owyhee River. 1863-1867 Ruby City was the first county seat. After Silver City was until 1934 the seat of the administration before it was Murphy.
