Papal conclave, 1492

The conclave of 1492 was the election meeting of the Cardinals after the death of Pope Innocent VIII and lasted from 6 August to 11 August 1492. It chose Pope Alexander VI.

History

The College of Cardinals to Konklavebeginn comprised 27 members. 4 Cardinals held at the time of the Conclave is not in Rome, so that the conclave only counted 23 participants.

As favorites of the Conclave, which was held in the Sistine Chapel, the cardinals Ascanio Sforza, Giuliano della Rovere della Porta Ardicino and Jorge da Costa were. However, since none of them received a required number of votes, so Sforza went over to Rodrigo de Borja. Supported by Sforza, now a pilgrimage on the eve of the election, the cardinals in the cell Borjas, where they received enormous commitments in their personal capacity for the delivery of their voices.
