Pinecrest is a municipality in Miami -Dade County in the U.S. state of Florida with 18,223 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Pinecrest is located 6 km southwest of Miami. Adjacent municipalities are Coral Gables, South Miami and Palmetto Bay.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 18,223 inhabitants distributed to 6,619 households. The population density was 934.5 inh. / Km ². 90.1 % of the population were white, 2.0% African American, 0.1% Native American and 5.3% Asian Americans. 0.9% were members of other ethnic groups and 1.6% in different ethnic groups. 41.3 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 25.6 % of all households lived in 42.3 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 79.2 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.94 and the average family size is 3.32 people.

29.8 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.3% were 20-39 years old, 35.0% were 40-59 years old and 17.9 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 42 years. 48.7 % of the population were male and 51.3 % female.

The average annual income was $ 108,403, while 5.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 58.08 % of the population spoke Spanish 35.07 % and 6.85% had a different mother tongue.

Traffic

The municipal area is affected in the west by U.S. Highway 1 (SR 5). From here, the SR branches 826 ( Palmetto Expressway). The Miami International Airport is located about 15 km north of Pinecrest.

The stations Dadeland North and Dadeland South of Miami-Dade Metrorail located on the northwestern edge of Pinecrest. Using a local train connection to get to the center of Miami, as well as to the airport.
