Predazzo

Predazzo ( German outdated Pardatsch ) is an Italian ski resort in the Dolomites to 1,014 m altitude. The has in the northeast of Val di Fiemme (Val di Fiemme ) Located in Trentino Town 4562 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) and is the economic center of the Val di Fiemme.

Resort, it is known in addition to winter sports facilities for its geological museum (Museo di Geologia ), which houses a large number of well-preserved fossils, minerals and rocks.

In Predazzo the ski jump Trampolino dal Ben is with the large hill ( hill size 134 m) and the normal hill ( hill size 106 ) and three smaller junior jumps. The competitions of ski jumpers and Nordic combined jumping events were held at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991, 2003 and 2013 in Val di Fiemme on this system.

Predazzo borders the municipalities of German, Welschnofen, Moena, Tesero, Panchià, Ziano di Fiemme, Siror, Canal San Bovo, Tonadico

History

Predazzo belonged until 1919 to the princely county of Tyrol and thus to Austria - Hungary. Until the First World War Predazzo was a garrison of the Imperial and Royal army in 1914 here was the Second Battalion of the Tyrolean State Rifle Regiment No. III.

By 1963, the place was the terminus for the Fleimstalbahn.
