R. A. The Rugged Man

RA The Rugged Man aka Richard Andrew Thorburn, or even short RA, is an American rapper from the Suffolk County on Long Iceland, New York.

R. A. is a maternal German descent, he spent his childhood in a lot of time in Siegelbach. At the age of 12 he began his career and signed with 18 his contract with the major label Jive Records under the pseudonym Crustified Dibbs. The produced for Jive Records album Night Of The Bloody Apes was never officially released. Due to its partly violent and shocking behavior towards the fans and the entire music industry, he was shunned in the 90s of all labels and A & Rs and outright banned.

Nevertheless enjoys R. A. a high reputation and respect not only for the fans, but also for artists with whom he worked, among other things, The Notorious BIG, Mobb Deep, Tragedy Khadafi, Wu -Tang Clan, Jedi Mind Tricks, Agallah, Sadat X, Prince Paul, Company Flow, as well as with the producers The Alchemist, Erick Sermon, J-Zone, Stoupe the Enemy of Mankind, DJ Quik. R. A. appeared on all three Rawkus Soundbombing albums and several maxi singles. First published in 2004, R. A. his long-awaited debut album Die, Rugged Man, The on the indie label Nature Sounds.

A great sensation aroused his lyrics for Uncommon Valor: A Vietnam Story for the group Jedi Mind Tricks. It tells the story of his father, Staff Sergeant John A. Thorburn, who fought in the Vietnam War, where he was severely damaged by the chemical defoliant Agent Orange by the U.S. military. The shocking text on the combat experiences and the later ruined lives of U.S. soldiers and their children born handicapped, expressed in a 40 lines long rap song were even printed in the U.S. magazine source.

In May 2013 published R. A. his second official album Legends Never Die, with features, among others, Talib Kweli, Eamon and Tech N9ne.

Other engagements

Also as a film and theater expert he is known and writes for the U.S. trend magazine Mass Appeal a monthly column as well as several articles in magazines such as The Source, Vibe or Complex. In an interview with the U.S. actor Chuck Norris he was hit from him and carry with a shoulder throw on the floor.

Likewise, R. A. wrote three screenplays in collaboration with director Frank Henenlotter: Sick In The Head, Love Is Hell and Bad Biology, which was published in 2008.
