Radek Smoleňák

Radek Smoleňák ( born December 3, 1986 in Prague, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech ice hockey player who is under contract with HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk in the Kontinental Hockey League since November 2013.

Career

Radek Smoleňák began his career as a hockey player in his youth HC Kladno of the Czech first division, for which he was active until 2004. He then moved to the Kingston Frontenacs in the Canadian top junior league Ontario Hockey League, for which he was on the ice from 2004 to 2006. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 in the third round than a total of 73 players from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

For their farm team, the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL and the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League, he played in the season 2006/07. After the winger had accrued in the season 2007 /08 for both the Norfolk Admirals in the AHL and Mississippi Sea Wolves in the ECHL, he gave the following season his debut in the National Hockey League for Tampa, the Czech in his rookie year in six games was a template. In the season 2010/11 Smoleňák played mostly for HC Sparta Prague in the Extraliga. For the final phase of the season and the play-offs he was loaned from Sparta to his former club HC Kladno. For the following season, he joined Ässät Pori of the Finnish SM- liiga in, but was released to the Pelicans Lahti in January 2012. In December 2012, his running contract was extended until the end of the 2014/15 season, the same Smoleňák was loaned until the end of the season Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod. After just seven games for Torpedo in the KHL his loan contract at the Timrå IK was transferred from the Elitserien.

After the season he returned to the Pelicans zuück and was early in the season 2013/14 to the best scorers of the SM - liiga. In November 2013 he took of a KHL - out clause in his contract use and moved to HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk.

Internationally

For Smoleňák Czech Republic took part in the U18 World Youth Championship 2004, where he finished in third place with his team.
