Ray Holman

Raymond Anthony Holman ( b. 1944 in Port of Spain, Trinidad ) is a trinidadischer composer, arranger and musician on the steel pan.

Life

Holman began as a child in the Invaders Steelband under Elliot Mannette Steel Pan playing.

1972 Holman wrote the first Arranger own Calypso in order to participate in the Steel Band Panorama competition. This concept was later adopted by other well-known arrangers such as Lennox Sharpe and Robert Greenidge with success.

He also taught at Fatima College in Trinidad, a prominent Catholic boys' school.

Most of his time is spent Holman now at North American universities as a guest lecturer and as an ambassador of the national musical instrument of his home state.
