Richland County (Ohio)

Richland County is a county located in the U.S. state of Ohio of the United States. In the 2000 census, the county had 128 852 inhabitants and a population density of 100 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Mansfield.

Geography

The County is located in north-central Ohio and has an area of 1296 square kilometers, of which nine square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Huron County, Ashland County, Knox County, Morrow County and Crawford County.

History

Richland County was formed on January 30, 1808 from parts of Fairfield County. It was named after the good ( rich ) soil in this area.

According to the census of 2000, there were 128 852 people in Richland County.
