Rick Nolan

Richard "Rick" Michael Nolan ( born December 17, 1943 in Brainerd, Minnesota) is an American politician. Between 1975 and 1981 he represented and since 2013 he again represents the state of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In the 2012 election, he sat down in the eighth congressional district of Minnesota against the Republican incumbent Chip Cravaack through.

Career

Richard Nolan attended until 1962 the Brainerd High School. He then studied at the Saint John's University in Collegeville and then to 1966 at the University of Minnesota. Later he studied public administration at the University of Maryland and Education at St. Cloud State College. After his studies, Nolan worked as both a businessman as well as in the teaching profession. Between 1968 and 1972 he taught the social studies in Royalton.

Nolan joined the Democratic Party, which since a merger in 1944, the Democratic - Farmer-Labor Party in Minnesota is called. From 1969 to 1973 he was a delegate in the House of Representatives from Minnesota. In the congressional elections of 1974 he was in the sixth constituency of Minnesotae in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of John M. Zwach on January 3, 1975. In the election, he also benefited from the impact of the Watergate scandal, which seriously hurt the Republican Party. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1981 three consecutive legislative sessions.

In 1980, Nolan opted not to run again. From 1981 to 1986 he was president of the U.S. Export Corporation; 1987 to 1994 he served as president of the Minnesota World Trade Center in Saint Paul. From then on he was a private businessman, until he returned to politics in 2011 and ran against the Republican Members of the U.S. House of Representatives Chip Cravaack in the 2012 election. He sat down with about 55 to 45 percent of the vote through and entered on January 3, 2013 his office.
