Riedenberg is located in Upper Sinngrund, in the Bavarian Rhön Nature Park and Biosphere Reserve Rhön.

History

The former Office of the Prince-Bishopric of Würzburg, which belonged to the Frankish Empire Circle, was ceded to the secularisation of 1803 in Bavaria's favor in 1805, Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg and fell with this 1814 final at Bayern. Coat of Arms History: The municipality Riedenberg was formed in 1971 through the merger of Upper and Unterriedenberg. The formerly independent municipality Unterriedenberg is documented since 1425 and belonged to the abbey of Fulda. Upper Riedenberg was first mentioned in 1494 and should be removed by a decree of the Prince-Bishop of Würzburg to limit further deforestation.
