Ruffrè-Mendola

Ruffrè or Ruffrè -Mendola ( German historical: Ruffreit -Mendel ) is an Italian municipality with 412 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in Val di Non in Trentino. The Mendola and the resort Mendel belong to Ruffrè ( Ruffreit ). However, there live some German -speaking South Tyrol that require a connection to the neighboring community Kaltern for years. Other neighboring municipalities are Sarnonico ( German historical: Sarnunich ) and Cavareno.

History

The first mention Ruffrès as " Mansum de Rifreto " dated to the year 1271st

By 1300 a church to Saint Anthony was mentioned, today's parish church dates largely from the early 15th century.

His heyday Ruffreit -Mendel after 1903, when the Mendola funicular was opened and the tourism moved into Ruffreit -Mendel and einkehrten some members of the House of Habsburg at Passo Mendola.
