Sailing at the 2012 Summer Olympics – 49er
The sailing competition in the 49er at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held in the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy from July 30 to August 8, 2012. 40 athletes (20 crews ) took part.
The competition was conducted in 16 races ( fleet race ). The first 15 races were completed by all starters. Here, points were awarded for the course number. In the final account, the worst result was deleted. The ten sailors with the lowest score were qualified for the medal race. The previous points were taken, but doubled the placement points for the medal race.
For false starts ( OCS on course side), and a race crash ( DNF ) received the glider in question 21 points. Also in disqualification ( DSQ ), the starter got 21 points. In addition, the jury could also distribute throughout the race penalty points (DPI = Discretionary Penalty Imposed ).
