San Esteban de Litera

San Esteban de Litera (Catalan Sant Esteve de Llitera ) is a municipality in the province of Huesca in the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain. It is located in the La Litera in the predominantly Catalan Franja de Aragón in the area of ​​the river Cinca, and the river Sosa. The municipality belongs linguistically to the transition region from the Catalan Aragonese.

History

The reconquered in 1064 for a short period of Moorish owned community came after several rule changes 1143-1149 definitively under Aragonese rule. It lies in the extreme south of the historic county of Ribagorza. 1648, the town was badly hit by the plague.
