Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg
The Duchy of Saxe-Gotha -Altenburg was a duchy ernestinisches on the territory of today's federal state of Thuringia. 1806 joined Saxe-Gotha -Altenburg the Confederation of the Rhine and 1815 the German Confederation at.

Creation of the Duchy of
The House of Saxe -Gotha -Altenburg leads to Duke Ernst I, the Pious of Saxe-Gotha ( lived 1601-1675 ) back. Extinction and successor
The last two rulers of the family of Saxe-Gotha -Altenburg died without a male successor. Duke Augustus had only one daughter, Duke Frederick IV, who reigned hardly anyway due to illness, died unmarried and childless.
