Scharrachbergheim-Irmstett

Scharrachbergheim- Irmstett is a commune with 1177 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) to the east of Mossig in the department of Bas -Rhin in the Alsace region. Today's church was established on 1 January 1975 by the merger of the municipalities Scharrachbergheim and Irmstett. It provides 4 delegates in the Communauté de communes de la Porte du Vignoble. The local mountains are the 246 m high and 301 m high Amberg Scharrach. The environment is characterized by fields and vineyards. The surrounding communities are Osthoffen in the east, Dahlenheim the southeast, Soultz- les- Bains in the south, the west and Traenheim Odratzheim in the northwest.

History

Besides the family of Scharrach, which gave its name to the settlement, a family of Geroldseck is known, followed by a family of Ochsenstein in 1390.

  • Scharrachbergheim- Irmstett has no railway station. Today there is the former station building.
  • The Catholic Church Saint -Jean -Baptiste dates from the 19th century.
  • The Protestant church was built in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 19th century.
  • A castle where there was a fort, is now in private ownership.
  • The Water Castle is a castle, which was built in 1450 by Jean de Scharrach.
