Sholinganallur

Sholinganallur (Tamil: சோழிங்கநல்லூர் Cōḻiṅkanallūr [ so ː ː u ː r ɻiŋɡən̪al ], also Shozhinganallur ) is a district of Chennai (Madras ), the capital of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Shozhinganallur forms one of 15 zones ( zones ) of Chennai and comprises nine districts ( wards ).

Sholinganallur is located in the south of Chennai, roughly 20 kilometers from the city center on the coast of the Gulf of Bengal. By Sholinganallur extend the East Coast Road, which runs from Chennai along the coast to the south, and the parallel Rajiv Gandhi Salai ( Old Mahabalipuram Road). Along the Rajiv Gandhi Road, the so-called " IT corridor", in which numerous information technology companies have settled covers. This Sholinganallur has experienced a significant economic upturn. Off the main routes, the infrastructure is still very poor.

By 2011, Sholinganallur was managed by the Panchayat system township (town panchayat ) in Kanchipuram district with 15,519 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). The city was the capital of Sholinganallur taluks. The place was, however, long since grown together with Chennai and become a part of the agglomeration of Chennai. Due to the expansion of the city of Chennai, Sholinganallur was administratively incorporated in Chennai. The former municipality of Sholinganallur and also eingemeindeten villages Neelankarai, Okkiam Thoraipakkam, Injambakkam, Karapakkam, Semmancheri and Uthandi the new zone Sholinganallur was formed.
