Silley-Bléfond

Silley - Bléfond is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Silley - Bléfond is located on 410 m, 4 km south-west of Baume- les -Dames, and 24 km east-northeast of the city of Besançon ( straight line ). The village is located in the Jura, on the so-called first plateau, a broad basin at the southern foot of the Jura - edge chain ( Côte ) with the Mont Dommage.

The area of ​​4:34 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The southern part of the area is occupied by the wide first Jura plateau, which is on average 390 m. It forms a wide, partially karstified basin. In the area of Silley the plateau is mainly consisted of arable and meadow land. To the south of the municipality floor extends into the gorge-like incised small valleys of Audeux, at the southern slope runs the municipal boundary.

To the north, the municipality's area extends to the long and wooded ridges of the Jura - edge chain ( Côte ) to the summit of Mont Dommage. This ridge separates the plateau from the north adjacent deep Doubs Valley and is oriented southwest-northeast direction. At the height of Mont Dommage the highest elevation of Silley - Bléfond is achieved with 570 m.

The double municipality consists of the villages Silley (410 m) on the plateau at the foot of Mont Dommage and Bléfond (370 m) above the valley of Audeux. Neighboring communities of Silley - Bléfond are Esnans in the north, Baume- les -Dames, Pont- les -Moulins and Adam -lès- Passavant in the east, Saint- Juan in the south and Bretigney -Notre -Dame in the West.

History

In 1810 the previously independent Bléfond was incorporated into Silley. For better distinctness against the also located in the department of Doubs Silley - Amancey the community name was officially changed in 1922 Silley - Bléfond.

Attractions

The chapel in Bléfond was built in the 19th century. From a medieval castle of the 12th century the foundations of the keep and the remains of the fortifications have been preserved.

Population

With 69 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Silley - Bléfond is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886, 139 were still counted ), a slight population growth was recorded since the early 1990s again.

Economy and infrastructure

Silley - Bléfond was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are almost no jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares near a secondary road that leads from Baume- les -Dames by Nancray.
