Sinker (Baseball)

The sinker or sinking fastball (German: Senkball or declining faster ball ) is a throwing technique a pitcher in baseball. Here, the ball is thrown with great force and with an extreme topspin, so the ball is lowered in front of the opposing batsman. This tempts the batsmen to hit either the ball or the top half of the ball, so that it is struck harmlessly into the ground (ground ball ) and usually a simple Out ( baseball) performs for the crew of the pitcher.

The sinker is related to the two- seam fastball, but has an even higher spin down. One of the most sinker pitcher is the two-time Cy Young Award winner Roy Halladay.
