Sören Gonther (born 15 December 1986 Schrecksbach ) is a German football player.

Career

Gonther played in the Youth for Jahn Treysa, VfB Schrecksbach and KSV Hessen Kassel. From 2004 to 2007 he played for KSV Baunatal in the Oberliga Hessen. For the season 2007/ 08 he moved to second division side SC Paderborn 07 On 3 February 2008, he completed his first professional use of the Match against Kickers Offenbach in the grid. Then the defender to regulars developed. The descent at the end of the season followed a year later, the direct re-emergence, in which he was injured, only 22 missions. In the following two years Gonther was then placed again in the defense of the Paderborn. In February 2012, he retired to a torn ACL and fell the rest of the season.

Despite Gonthers violation of FC St. Pauli signed him as from 1 July 2012. He signed a two-year contract until 30 June 2014. During the preparation for the new season, however, he was injured again difficult cruciate ligament and missed almost the entire season. On May 12, 2013, the penultimate game of the 2012/13 season, he made his debut in the St.Pauli jersey in a 5-1 victory against the Bundesliga team Eintracht Braunschweig.
