St. Pete/Winston-Salem Parrots

The St. Pete / Winston -Salem Parrots were an American ice hockey team from Winston- Salem, North Carolina (up to resettle in November 2002 from Saint Petersburg, Florida). The team played in the 2002/03 season in the Atlantic Coast Hockey League.

History

The team was founded in 2002 as a franchise of the inaugural Atlantic Coast Hockey League. First, the team wore its home games in Saint Petersburg, Florida, from, but it was relocated in November 2002 after Winston- Salem, North Carolina. In her only season the Parrots occupied the fourth place in the ACHL after the regular season. In the following Playoffs they failed in round due to a sweep in the best- of-five series to the Knoxville Ice Bears. When the league was disbanded after one year, also featured the Parrots a game operation.

The gap left by the Parrots in Winston -Salem, was filled by the Winston -Salem T-Birds from the South East Hockey League in 2003.
