Jacksonville Barracudas

The Jacksonville Barracudas were an American ice hockey team from Jacksonville, Florida. The team played from 2002 to 2008 in various professional leagues.

History

The team was founded in 2002 as a franchise of the inaugural Atlantic Coast Hockey League. In this they occupied in its premiere season the sixth and thus last place, which they missed the playoffs. After the league was disbanded after only one year, the team moved to the World Hockey Association 2 in which one took first place after the regular season and was in the playoffs champion. The WHA2, which was named in accordance with the World Hockey Association, which was in direct competition with the National Hockey League from 1972 to 1979, there was only one season long. Once again, the Barracudas joined its successor league and played from 2004 to 2008 in the Southern Professional Hockey League. In this she retired from in 2007 and 2008 only in the playoff final and subject it to Fayetteville FireAntz and Knoxville Ice Bears. Following the 2007/ 08 season, the franchise ceased the operation of gambling.

Coach

From 2003 to 2006, the former Canadian NHL Ron Duguay was professional coach of the Barracudas. He had his compatriot Kurt Wickenheiser replaced, which had previously been locked several times because of lack of discipline from the league of the Atlantic Coast Hockey League. Last team standing from 2006 to 2008, Rick Allain, who could collect previously mainly in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey League experience as a head coach.

Venues

The team wore their home games from 2004 to 2007 in the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena, which then took 16,000 seats at hockey games. For the 2007 /08 season, the team moved into much smaller Jacksonville Ice, which had only a capacity of 1,200 seats at the hockey games.
