Stanley Burbury

Stanley Burbury ( born December 3, 1909 in Perth, Australia, † April 24, 1995 in Hobart, Tasmania ) was an Australian lawyer and Governor of Tasmania.

Life

Burbury studied law at the University of Tasmania and subsequently worked as a lawyer in Hobart. In 1952 he was appointed Attorney General ( Solicitor - General ). From 1956 to 1973 he was Chairman of the Supreme Court of Tasmania ( Supreme Court of Tasmania).

In 1973 he was nominated by Prime Minister Eric Reece as governor of Tasmania. Burbury, the Office until 1982. He was the first governor of Tasmania, who was born in Australia.

Burbury died on 24 April 1995 in Hobart. According to him, the reservoir Lake Burbury was named.
