Geography
Location
The municipality is situated on the southern end of Stavern Hümmling, a moraine landscape in Emsland about 15 kilometers northeast of Meppen. Just east past the place runs a portion of the Nordradde, an eastern tributary of the Ems.
Neighboring communities
Neighboring municipalities are in the north west, the municipality Lathen, in the north- east, the municipality Soegel, in the east the communities large and small Berßen Berßen, in the south of Meppen and to the west the town of Haren.
History
