Steutz is a district of the city of Zerbst / Anhalt in the district of Anhalt- Bitterfeld, in Saxony -Anhalt ( Germany ). On an area of ​​32.29 km ² community live 906 inhabitants (as of August 2012).

Until December 31, 2009 Steutz was an independent municipality with the associated district Steckby. On 1 January 2010, the annexation was to Zerbst / Anhalt.

Geography

Steutz and Steckby are on the middle Elbe, south of Zerbst / Anhalt and west of Dessau. The town of Aken (Elbe ) is located on the opposite side of the river. West of Steutz evolved from the nature reserve Steckby - Lödderitzer forestry - as a biosphere reserve in 1979 recognized by UNESCO as such - to the major flood plains extended Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve.

Steutz is an old place and was first mentioned in 1266. Since 1974 belongs to the district Steutz Steckby. The floodplain of the Elbe in the green expanse of the former glacial valley is a unique type of landscape. With its lush meadows, its almost impenetrable deciduous forests and many smaller and larger bodies of water, it offers the nature lover some botanical and zoological specificity. The emblem of the two districts by two stars, the same are symbolized by the blue wave bar and the floodplain forest with its hundred year old oak trees by the oak leaves.

The flag was approved on 15 November 1996 by the regional council of Dessau.
