Stosswihr
Stosswihr ( elsässich Stooswihr, German shock Weier ) is an Alsatian village with 1386 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the French department of Haut-Rhin. She is a member of the Communauté de communes de la Vallée de Munster.
Geography
The village is situated in the Vosges, in the Vallée de la Petite fencing, a tributary of the Vallée de Munster, about 20 km from Colmar in the east and 25 km from Gerardmer to the west away. Stosswihr is also in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of Ballons des Vosges (French Parc naturel régional of Ballons des Vosges).
History
In a document from the year 783, the village is mentioned under the name Stozzeswillars for the first time. Stosswihr came during the Thirty Years' War to the Alsace. In February 1915, during the First World War, the valley was severely affected by the invasion of German troops affected. The reconstruction started in 1920.
