Tagant Region

Tagant (Arabic ولاية تكانت, DMG Wilaya Takānit ) is the eleventh of the thirteen administrative regions in the African country of Mauritania.

The region is located south central and is named after the Tagant Plateau. Tagant is enclosed by the other Mauritanian Adrar administrative regions in the north, Hodh Ech Chargui in the east, Hodh El Gharbi and Assaba in the south and Brakna in the West.

The capital is Tidjikdja. Another important city is Tichitt. Tagant divided into three departments Tidjikdja, Tichitt and Moudjeria.
