Tartus Governorate

Tartus (Arabic محافظة طرطوس, DMG Muḥāfẓat Tartus ) is one of 14 Syrian governorates and is located in the west of the country on the border with Lebanon. In the west, the province borders on the Mediterranean Sea. Covering an area of ​​1890 km ² is home to around 785,000 inhabitants (estimated 2010). Capital of the governorate is Tartus.
