Parish council

As in most rural areas of Finland is in Tervo the rural - liberal Centre Party, the largest party. The council reached despite considerable losses even at the municipal election in 2012 with just over 50 % of the votes and nine out of the 17 MPs absolute majority. The first time being beaten right-wing populist True Finns were immediately won four mandates second strongest force in place. The Social Democrats and the conservative National Coalition Party are represented by two seats in the municipal council.

Twinning

Tervo has since 1945 been twinned with Hurdal in Norway, since 1989, with Rajon Prioneschsk in Russia.
