Tim Penny

Timothy Joseph " Tim " Penny ( born November 19, 1951 in Albert Lea, Minnesota ) is an American politician. Between 1983 and 1995 he represented the state of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Tim Penny attended until 1969, Kiester High School. Then he studied until 1974 at the Winona State University. Penny finished his training in 1975 with a degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party, which bears the name Democratic - Farmer-Labor Party (DFL ) since a merger with the Farmer-Labor Party in 1944 in Minnesota.

Between 1976 and 1982, Penny was sitting in the Minnesota Senate. In the congressional elections of 1982, he was the first electoral district of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he entered on January 3, 1983 to succeed Arlen Erdahl of the Republican Party. After five re- elections, he was able to complete in Congress until January 3, 1995 six contiguous legislatures. At this time there the 27th Amendment to the Constitution was adopted.

In 1994, Tim Penny gave up another candidacy. Later he moved to the Independence Party of Minnesota. In 2002, he joined that party unsuccessfully in the gubernatorial elections in Minnesota. In the 2008 presidential election Penny supported the Republican candidate John McCain. Today he is president of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation.
