Tiwali Minsk (Russian Тивали Минск ) was a Belarusian ice hockey club from Minsk, which existed from 1956 to 2001.

History

In the 1949/50 season took with Spartak Minsk for the first time a hockey club from Minsk on the operation of the game Klass A, the highest Soviet league, in part. First, however, the team was not very successful and lost in its premiere season all ten season games. Result, it obtained both in the preliminary round group A, as well as the placement round for seventh place to last place. In the following season Spartak took both the last place in its main round group, as well as the placement round for seventh place. As in the previous Spartak lost all season games. In the season 1952/53, Spartak was able to achieve his first success in the league, but suffered relegation due to a reduction leagues. Subsequently, the association was dissolved.

Other clubs from Minsk, who were represented in the lower divisions of the Soviet Union, are Torpedo Minsk (1946-1956), Burewestnik Minsk (1956-1958), Krasnoje Znamya Minsk (1958-1964), Trud Minsk (1964-1965) and Wympel Minsk ( 1965-1966 ).

1965 was founded in Minsk Torpedo, a new club. One year after the foundation managed Torpedo promotion to the top division, but finished with 18 points the last place the main round and failed in the relegation due to goal difference behind Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the league. In the season 1969/70 torpedo was second division champions and failed in the relegation with two defeats in two games in Sibir Novosibirsk. After a long break Minsk took place in the 1980/81 season in the match operation of the highest Soviet league, which was held in the meantime under the name Wysschaja league part. Both in the main round, as well as the relegation round occupied Minsk last place and could not avoid the direct relegated again. From 1988 to 1990, Minsk was temporarily established in the Wysschaja league.

After the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the establishment of an independent Belarusian Championship, the Extraliga, the club was one of the most successful teams of Belarus under the name Tiwali Minsk. Thus he was able in 1993, 1994 and 1995, winning the first three editions of the Extraliga. After two runner-up in 1996 and 1997, Tiwali Minsk won in 2000 on his fourth and last national championship. Only the HK Junost Minsk has won five league titles with more national titles. From 1992 to 1996, the club took part parallel to the Belarusian championship game on operation of the new International Hockey League. After the non-Russian teams were no longer allowed to participate in its successor league, the Super League to Tiwali Minsk the East European Hockey League followed, in which it took from 1996 to 2000 in parallel with the Extraliga, but could not achieve significant results.

Following the 2000/ 01 season, the club had to be canceled for financial reasons. The tradition of Tiwali Minsk will continue from now playing in the Kontinental Hockey League HC Dinamo Minsk since 2004.

Venue

The Minsk Sports Palace, which was opened after three years of construction in 1966, was the Heimstadtion of the association until its financially -related resolution.
