Tubay, Agusan del Norte

Tubay is a town in the province of Agusan del Norte on the island of Mindanao in the southern Philippines.

Tubay is located on the east coast of the bay of Butuan and borders the municipalities Jabonga in the north, Santiago in the northeast and east, and to the city Cabadbaran the east and south.

Tubay is named after the founder of the town Datu Tebay. The place is the second Spanish settlement in Agusan. First settled the inhabitants of the place in Ilihan, the settlement was, however, after a few more times relocated, first in the wilds of Ilihan, then. According Sitio Malubog, then Tubay - Tubay and Sabang The latter was situated near the mouth of the river Jabonga and was affected by continuous flooding and attacks of the Moros, which is why the settlement was moved to its present location Daan Lungsod Pueblo.

Between 1898 and 1903 Tubay was the first time independently, but was annexed in 1903 at the instigation of Americans as Barrio Township Cabadbaran. The present municipality was created by secession from Cabadbaran on 20 October 1947.
