Turate
Turate is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 9146 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the Province of Como in Lombardy. The municipality is situated approximately 19 km south-southwest of Como and about 24 kilometers north- west of Milan. Turate is immediately adjacent to the province of Varese.
History
712 Turate first mentioned as Thurao. The municipality is located in the settlement area of the Insubres and the Lombards.
Traffic
Turate is located on the Autostrada A23, which leads to Como and further into the Ticino in Switzerland. A motorway junction is. Through the community also leads the Strada Statale 233 Varesina in a northwesterly direction to Varese. On the railway line Saronno Laveno is the station Gerenzano - Turate, but is located on the territory of the neighboring municipality of Gerenzano.
