University of Windsor is a Canadian comprehensive university in Windsor, Essex, the southernmost city in Canada with approximately 16,000 students in the metropolitan area of Metro Detroit on the border between Canada and the United States.

Predecessor universities

Founded as the church today unbound University in 1963 from the Roman Catholic College Founded in 1857, Assumption University and in 1957 adopted the Anglican Canterbury College and the 1962 adopted Uniate Iona College. In 1963, the Essex University was incorporated.

Location

The university is located on the border with U.S. auto city of Detroit, the home of three major U.S. company Ford, General Motors and Chrysler. The few kilometers from the town center lies approximately 50 acre campus is surrounded by the Detroit River and the Ambassador Bridge, which leads to Detroit.

University life

Approx. ten percent of the students do not come from Canada. The Canadian Auto Workers union Canadian erected on the campus, the CAW Student Centre, which serves as a central meeting place for students. Major libraries are the Leddy Library and the Paul Martin Law Library Faculty of Law. The university is famous for being a sporting activities for students, particularly football, beach volleyball and hockey.
