Valladolid

Valladolid? / I [ baʎaðoli (ð ) ] is a city in central Spain on the river Pisuerga. It is the capital of the province of Valladolid and of the seat of government of the autonomous community of Castile and León. Valladolid has 309 714 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). Colloquially, the city is also called " Pucela ".

Geography

The city is located south of the Montes de Torozos and the plateau Tierra de Campos on the north bank of the Duero in central Spain. In the southwest of the city the mouth of the Pisuerga lies in the Duero. To the north lies Palencia, east of Aranda de Duero, south of Medina del Campo, Zamora further west and northwest of Medina de Rioseco. After Madrid ( south ) there are about 180 km.

Climate

History
