Vasyl Fedoryshyn

Vasyl Fedoryschyn (Ukrainian Васил Федоришин; born 31 March 1981) is a Ukrainian wrestler. He won at the 2008 Olympics, a silver medal and three times European Champion, in each case in free style at featherweight.

Career

Vasyl Fedoryschyn began as a teenager in 1993 with the rings. He was named after the first major successes member of the renowned Ukrainian army sports club CSKA Kiev and there is or has been coached by Igor Barna and Andrei Silezki. He wrestles with the free style. He currently lives on the rings and starts primarily for foreign clubs. So he was already working for the KSV Gersweiler and also wrestled in the Iranian Professional League for Rah Ahan ( Khorasan ). In the 2008/2009 season, he went for the KSV Aalen in the German Bundesliga on the wrestling mat. In December 2008 he was given a special tribute to the World Ringer Association FILA bestowed, for he was voted " wrestler of the year 2008".

His international career began Wassyl Fedoryschyn already at junior level where he took part in six World Cups and European Championships, while winning three medals. His greatest success was about winning the European Junior Championships in 2000 in Sofia in free style bantamweight.

In the senior, he came Vice-European Champion in 2001 and 2002 in Budapest and Baku. 2001 Bantamweight behind Bakuti Zsolt from Hungary and 2002 in the featherweight behind Arif Kama from Turkey. At the 2001 World Championships in Sofia, he retired before reaching the semi-finals by a defeat against Guivi Sissaouri from Canada and got away with it to 5th place at featherweight. In 2003, he lost at the World Championships in New York to a win over Anatoly Guidea from Bulgaria in his second fight against Yandro Quintana from Cuba and landed only on the 24th Place.

2004 saw Vasyl Fedoryschyn in Ankara after a semi-final defeat against Tevfik Odabasi from Turkey with a win over Themistocles Iakovidis from Greece to 3rd place. For its first participation in the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, he succeeded, among other things Victories over Gergo Wöller from Hungary and Guivi Sissaouri. But he was defeated by Yandro Quintana and therefore could only fight more for the bronze medal against the Japanese Kenji Inoue. In this encounter he lost conceivable with 1:2 and 5:6 rounds techn. Therefore points and had to settle for 4th place.

In 2005, Wasil Fedorischin was then in Varna for the first time European champion at featherweight. Here (. 2-1 rounds, 3:2 techn points) succeeded him in the second fight a narrow victory over the Russians Alan Dudayev. In the final he beat the French, who surprised Didier Pais then clearly on points. At the World Championships this year in Budapest, he met his second fight on the Iranian Seyed Mohammadi Murad Pahnekalaei and lost against this on points. He only came on the 11th Place. Even in the years 2006 and 2007, he was unable to win medals at World Championships. 2006 lost again in Guangzhou (Canton) against Mohammadi Pahnekalaei and also against Noriyuki Takatsuka from Japan that finished 5th Place and in the 2007 World Championships in Baku, he failed to Mawlet Batirow from Russia and Bazaar Bazargurujew from Kyrgyzstan and landed on the 11th Place. Previously, he was however in 2007 in Sofia for the second time became European Champion with a win in the final over Anatoli Guidea.

This award was followed in 2008 at the European Championships in Tampere next. Wasil Fedorischin defeated there in the semifinals Adam Batirow from Russia and in the final again Anatoli Guidea and thus became the third time European champions. After he had never won up to this point at the Olympics and World Championships medals, he managed it at last at the Olympic Games in Beijing. He defeated there featherweight Mike Zadick from the United States, and Kenichi Yumoto Bazar Barargurujew from Japan and then stood for victory Mawlet Batirow, the Olympic champion in 2004 in the bantamweight opposite. Mawlet Batirow proved to be the stronger and won on points. For Wasil Fedorischin the silver medal remained.

At the European Championships 2009 in Vilnius he came to the third place because he lost there in the semi-final against Adam Batirow. But in the battle for the bronze medal he defeated the Turks Ersin Cetin. He won the same place also at the 2009 World Championships in Herning. After three victories, he was defeated there in the semi-final against Besik Kuduchow from Russia and finally won the battle for the bronze medal Seyed Mohammadi Mourad Pahnekalaei from Iran.

Also in 2010 Wassyl Fedoryschyn was very successful. He won two World Cup tournaments and finished at the European Championships in Baku 3rd place. In the battle for the bronze medal he defeated Alexander doing Kontojew from Belarus. At the World Championships in Moscow, he was more successful. He defeated there by Dilshod Mansurov, Malkhaz Kurdiani, Georgia, Ersin Cetin, Turkey and Azerbaijan Zelimkhan Chusseinow from four world-class wrestler. In the final he was defeated, however, against Olympic champion Besik Kuduchow on points (1:2 rounds, 1:5 techn. Dots).

2011 won Wassyl Fedoryschyn at the European Championships in Dortmund 3rd place once a medal. He defeated among others, thereby Togrul Asgarow from Azerbaijan, Didier Pais from France and in the fight for the bronze medal Marcel Ewald from Germany. He suffered a defeat in the semifinals by Sahit Prizreni from Albania. At the World Championships this year in Istanbul, he came only to a victory over Hernan Guzman from Colombia. Counter Kenichi Yumoto he lost and was eliminated because Yumoto not reached the final. He landed characterized in 15th place.

In 2012, he succeeded just in the third qualifying tournament he played to qualify for the Olympic Games in London. But in London he lost his first fight against equal Malkhaz Zarkua from Georgia clearly on points and therefore only reached the 17th place.
