Verkhny Tagil

Werchni Tagil (Russian Верхний Тагил ) is a town in Sverdlovsk Oblast (Russia) with 11,843 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The city is located on the eastern edge of the Middle Urals, about 110 km north-west of Yekaterinburg on Oblasthauptstadt Tagil, a tributary of the Tura River in the system of the Ob.

Werchni Tagil forms a separate urban district.

The town is about a 16 km long branch line with the station Neiwa the railway line Perm - Ekaterinburg connected - Kushva ( station Goroblagodatskaja ). The station of the city is called Werchnetagilskaja.

History

Werchni Tagil arose in 1716 in connection with the establishment of ironworks Werchnetagilski Zavod (Upper Tagil plant to distinguish it from Lower Tagil plant, Nischnetagilski Zavod, Nizhny Tagil today ) by the entrepreneurial family Demidov. The 1718 put into service station was shut down after 1917. In 1966, the site of a town.

Culture and sights

Werchni Tagil has a Historical and Folk Museum.

Economy

In addition to the Werchnetagiler thermal power station ( GRES Werchnetagilskaja ) the utility company OGK -1, there is a work for building construction and a furniture factory and a fishing industry on the dammed here Tagil.
