Veverské Knínice

Veverské Knínice until 1948 Německé Knínice ( German German Kinitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 16 kilometers northwest of the city center of Brno at the outskirts and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Veverské Knínice located on the edge of the Highlands in the Bobravská Boskovická Brázda ( Bosko brázda ). The village is situated near the natural park Údolí Bílého potoka and Nature Park Podkomorske lesy in the trough of the stream Kninicky creek. In the south and west of the highway D1 / E 55 / E 65 passes, exit 178 is Ostrovačice. To the southeast is the Brno Circuit.

Neighboring towns are Lažánky, Holasice and Prachovna in the north, Veverská Bítýška and Hvozdec in the Northeast, Pod Komorou, Rakovec and Bystrc in the east, Žebětín the southeast, Ostrovačice Říčany in the south, Dolni Ricky and Ricky in the southwest, Domašov in the west and Javůrek in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1233 in the founding document of the monastery Porta Coeli by Constance of Hungary. Margrave John placed the village under the protection of the sovereign's castle Eichhorn what the residents had to make payments in kind according to Eichhorn. In return for a loan of the monastery of 900 thalers in Znata of Lomnice, Německé Kynice 1535 was placed under the compulsion of beer Říčany. After the dissolution of the monastery in 1782 were made in the course of the Josephine reforms William Mundy bought the monastery courtyard. Mundy, who also acquired the lordships Tischnowitz and Eichhorn, Německé Kynice joined to Eichhorn. 1830 bought by Gustav Wasa rule Eichhorn of the family of Mundy. In the same year a Gestift to promote the education of the children was established.

After the abolition of patrimonial Německé Kynice formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno. In 1921 came the congregation to Okres Brno- venkov. In 1923 the town name was changed to Německé Knínice. On 31 January 1948, the renamed Veverské Knínice was. Between 1948 and 1960 the village belonged to Okres Rosice, then back to Okres Brno- venkov. 1980, the decision to the Association of Municipalities Ostrovačice, Říčany, Veverské Knínice was taken to a unified community Říčany - Ostrovačice based in Říčany. On November 22, 1990, the municipality Říčany - Ostrovačice broke up again.

Attractions
