Vieux-Lixheim

Vieux- Lixheim ( German Altlixheim ) is a commune with 251 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Sarrebourg, for Canton Fénétrange and founded in 1997, Local Government Association, Pays de Fénétrange.

Geography

Vieux- Lixheim is located about 8 km northeast of Sarrebourg at an altitude 267-337 m above sea level, the average height is 300 m. The municipality covers 6.45 km ². The municipality also includes the courtyard fracture (fracture mill).

Neighboring communities of Vieux- Lixheim are Rauwiller and Schalbach in the north, Lixheim in the east, in the southeast Brouviller, Réding in the south and Hilbesheim in the West.

History

The emergence Altlixheims is closely connected with the monastery Lixheim, a Benedictine monastery, which was founded in 1107 and repealed in 1550. Between 1629 and 1702, the village belonged to the principality Lixheim. In the Thirty Years' War Altlixheim was destroyed.
