Viéville-en-Haye

Viéville -en- Haye is a commune with 163 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Toul and Canton Thiaucourt - Regniéville. Mayor ( Maire ) since 2001 (re-elected 2008-2014 ) Marc Martinoli.

Geography

Viéville -en- Haye is a neighbor of Thiaucourt - Regniéville and lies about 20 km west of Pont- à -Mousson. The village lies at an altitude 270-357 m above sea level. The municipality is located in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

History

In the conflict between the city of Metz and the duke of Lorraine 1427-1429 Viéville was destroyed. It was not until the early 16th century, the town was rebuilt. During World War I, heavy fighting took place around Viéville -en- Haye, in the resort are among others an approximately two -meter monument to the fallen soldiers of the U.S. 5th Division and two cemeteries.
