Villers-Tournelle

Villers- Tournelle ( Picard: Viler - Tornelle ) is a northern French village with 159 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes du canton de Montdidier, in the canton Montdidier.

Geography

The church in the countryside Santerre is situated on the D188 road department away from busy roads around 9.5 kilometers west of Montdidier on the hill between two dry valleys.

History

The community is called 1172. Towards the end of the 15th century, the reign of the family de la Tour Nelle passed to the de Fran Sure. Around 1760 the castle was built, the wurdee heavily damaged in World War II. The 1918 destroyed the parish church probably dates back to the 13th century and was enlarged in the 16th century. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
