Walgreens ( Walgreen Co.) is an American retail chain, headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, sold the pharmaceutical products in the United States. Walgreens is listed on the stock index S & P 100.

The company has about 7,000 sales locations in the United States and Puerto Rico. About 2,000 of these stores are open 24 hours a day.

In a typical Walgreens store 25 to 30 employees. In addition to the pharmaceutical industry, there is a photo- sector, a beauty parlor and a general sale range of products.

History

Walgreens was founded by Charles R. Walgreen, which opened in 1901, a first sale business in Chicago, Illinois.

From 1946 to 1985 belonged to Walgreens the Mexican retail enterprises Sanborn, which also sold pharmaceutical products in Mexico. Walgreens sold Sanborn to the company Grupo Carso.

In 2006, Walgreens acquired the US-based Happy Harry's.
