Wangenbourg-Engenthal

Cheeks -Engenthal (Eng. cheeks castle) is a town and tourist resort with 1362 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Bas- Rhin in Alsace region of France.

Geography

Cheeks -Engenthal located in the Alsatian Vosges means on the upper reaches of the Mossig, and bordering the Moselle department in Lorraine. The highest point is 961 meters high snow mountain. The street village is connected by the road D 218 to the Department of Transport Network. There also runs the Route de Bois. In the southwest is the Forêt Domaniale d' narrow valley, east of the Forêt Domaniale de la Mossig. For cheeks -Engenthal include the districts Engenthal -le- Bas, Engenthal -le-Haut, Freudeneck, les Huttes, Upper climbing, snow valley, wind Bourg and Wolfsthal.

History

In the 12th century the Counts of Dagsburg donated the priory top climbing with a hospice to care for pilgrims on their way through the Saverne. It flourished in the 13th century, but was relocated in 1303 to Saverne.

On November 1, 1974, the municipalities and Wangenbourg Engenthal merged into a single municipality.

Since 1990, maintains cheek -Engenthal a partnership with the community Lanvallay in Brittany.
