Weightlifting at the 2012 Summer Olympics

At the 2012 Olympics in London 15 competitions were held in weightlifting from July 28 to August 7, 2012 at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, seven for women and eight for men. The competition program was identical to that of Beijing 2008.

The Kazakh Ilya Ilyin, who had already brought 2008 Gold, won the competition to 94 kilograms. He lifted a total of 418 kilograms and thus improved the 13 years old world record of the Greeks Acacius Kachiasvilis six kilograms. Qualification criteria

There are 260 athletes take part in the competitions, 98 women and 147 men. Another five quota places were reserved for the host NOK, ten grid positions awarded the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF ) after completion of the qualifying phase by invitation to NOCs who could not achieve quota places. Each NOC may nominate a maximum of four women and six men for the competitions and a maximum of two athletes per weight class. Main qualifying competitions were the 2010 World Championships in Antalya, 2011 in Paris. The results of the athletes of NOCs were summarized in a national competition, separated only by gender.

For women, as the results of the top four participants in an NOCs into the national rankings. The top nine nations received the maximum number of four quota places, the following nations to place 16 three and the nations to place 21 two each. Won quota places

In the Africa Championships each won a quota place in the women Nigeria, Tunisia, Cameroon and Madagascar and in the men Algeria, Tunisia, Cameroon, South Africa and Nigeria.

At the European Championships each won a quota place in the women Azerbaijan, Romania, Spain, Bulgaria, Albania and France in the men Moldova, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Hungary, Greece, Czech Republic and Spain.

At the Asia Championships won in the women's Uzbekistan, Syria, Indonesia, India, the United Arab Emirates and Vietnam and in the men Japan, the Republic of China, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, India, Saudi Arabia and Syria in a quota place.

In the Pan machinations each won a quota place in the women Mexico, Brazil, Chile, and Guatemala and for men Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, the USA, Guatemala, Venezuela and Chile.

The Ozeanienmeisterschaften each won a quota place in the women's Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Fiji and Australia in the men's Australia, Kiribati, Fiji, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.

Individual courses start each won an athlete from Hong Kong, Moldova and the Philippines as well as one athlete from Slovakia, Latvia, Syria, El Salvador, Nauru and Micronesia.

At the end of the qualification of the World Association IMF awarded in June 2012 in each yet a quota place in Belgium, Ghana, Kenya, Lebanon, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Peru and Uganda.
