Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk
Yuzhno- Suchokumsk (Russian Южно - Сухокумск ) is a city in the southern Russian republic of Dagestan with 10,035 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the Terek - Kuma Lowland, in the northwest of the Nogai Steppe, about 300 km north-west of the Republic capital Makhachkala on periodic water flow leading Sukhaia Kuma ( Kuma Dry ).
Yuzhno- Suchokumsk is under the administrative right of the Republic.
History
Yuzhno- Suchokumsk was created in 1963 as an urban-type settlement for oil and gas workers and received city rights in 1988.
