Zell am Pettenfirst

Zell am Pettenfirst is a municipality in Upper Austria in Vöcklabruck district in Hausruckviertel with 1166 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). The competent jurisdiction is Vöcklabruck.

Geography

The town of Zell am Pettenfirst located on the southern slope of the house jerk, her area covers 23 villages. The boundaries of the community are a back of the house jerk with the north-south running Pettenfirst, west of the Ampflwangerbach in the north. Their extent is 6.9 km from north to south, from west to east 5.2 km. The total area is 13.6 km ². 33.8 % of the area is forested, 58.1 % of the area is used for agriculture.

History

The heart of Upper Austria, there is a mini- mountain, which is actually a valley: Before about 17 million years silted a sea auffüllte the bottom of the river gravel from the nascent Alps. Ten million years later thrived on a cypress forest, which soon disappeared under the bed load. Only in geologically recent times, began the removal of more than 200 m high gravel surface: Thus, the ridge of the house jerk forest arose. The relics of the primeval trees are used in the 19th and 20th century in the form of coal.

The place name cell was first mentioned in 1371 in a land register of Schauberger. At this time it is likely to have been placed in a cell pilgrimage. At the end of the 15th century, the late-Gothic church was built. The name cell indicates a monastic establishment.

Since 1850, Zell am Pettenfürst, the place was originally called, even pastors. At this time, the population was already at 1000th order in 1889 there was a landslide of Pettenfirstes. Here also two properties were so damaged that they had to be demolished.

Culture and sights

Cell has a three-aisled hall church with a net vault. The the townscape dominant tower was built in 1670. Also noteworthy is the south porch, the current input range, with the rich verstäbten Portalgewände. 1784 cell became an independent parish. The two side altars, the emergency responders altar and the altar apostles, were built by the sculptor Rieder Vogl. The high altar in the auricular style from 1669 and part of the apostle altar are from the hand of Thomas Schwanthalerstraße. Also worth seeing are the pulpit with the statuettes, the late Gothic tabernacle, Mary with Child and the four wings reliefs by former Gothic winged altar.

Cell offers the sanctuary of a variety of hiking opportunities. For children but also for adults, there is the "Forest of the children ", an adventure trail from cell to Pettenfirst. This approach offers the opportunity to learn to understand the forest at several stations. The coal seam Kalletsberg shows coal to attack. If visibility is good, you can enjoy beautiful views of the Alps in the south.

Population Development

In 1991 the municipality had 1,106 inhabitants according to the census, in 2001 then 1223 inhabitants. On 1 October 2008, the population was 1,173, and on 1 January 2013 then 1166.
