Židlochovice

Židlochovice ( German United Seelowitz, also Seelowitz ) is a city in the Czech Republic. It is located 17 kilometers south of the center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Židlochovice located at the junction of Litava in the Svratka in the South Moravian Thaya Schwarza valley floor. To the east of the city rises the Výhon ( 355 m).

Neighboring towns are Vojkovice in the north, and Opatovice Blučina in the northeast, Nosislav the southeast, Přísnotice in the south, and Žabčice Unkovice in the southwest and Hrušovany in the West.

History

The oldest archaeological findings date back to the early days of the Slavic colonization. The first mention of Selowiz was in 1237 in a document Wenceslas I.
